Bayous & How They Help Prevent Flooding!

We have a bayou just outside our neighborhood & we've visited a few times just to enjoy the nature. This time, we talked about why bayous exist & we did an experiment to show how they help keep water from overwhelming the roadways and houses.

How We Did It...

1. Dug out a small trench in the dirt

2. Poured bottles of water into the trench to observe how the water collects & moves along the bayou

3. Placed some of Adrian's toys along the bayou, noticing the water did not overtake them!
